Open House New York invites you to its 2015 Summer Reception, a special event for OHNY members. Join us for a special preview of the Hamilton Avenue Marine Transfer Station, a critical piece of the city's sanitation infrastructure scheduled to open next year.

When it becomes operational in 2016, the Hamilton Avenue MTS in Gowanus will be the transfer point for household waste from ten Brooklyn community boards. This brand new facility, which replaces an older MTS on the site, is a key element of the city's 20-year Solid Waste Management Plan.

Tour the cavernous facility before it opens with officials from the New York City Department of Sanitation, to learn how our waterways are key to the city's environmental sustainable waste disposal infrastructure. Light refreshments will follow on a waterfront platform beneath towering cranes that will soon load hundreds of tons of waste each day onto waiting barges.

This event is open to OHNY members only. Admission is free but reservations are required.

Attendees must be 18 years or older. Tours of this venue are not wheelchair accessilbe.
